What Is Smart Look Up And How To Use In Office 2016

Smart Lookup is a nifty new feature in Office 2016 software suite. The feature automatically finds information on the Web using Microsoft’s Bing search engine without forcing users to open up an Internet browser and run a search manually.

First of all, we must select the text that we want in order to use the Smart Lookup command, and then select the Review tab and from the area of the ribbon named Insights, we select the command Smart Lookup as shown in the image below.

Straight away at the right of the window, the Insights task pane appears with all the information associated with the text that we selected. In the Insights task pane, we can scroll up and down, in order to locate the information that we want.

The Insights task pane is separated in two tabs:

  • Explore: We use it, in order to explore the information associated with the selected text.
  • Define: We use it, in order to view the definition of the selected text.

In the image below, on the Insights pane and on the Explorer tab I have scrolled down in order to view the rest of the information. If we click on the More command, our Explorer will open and display the rest of the information. We also notice images from Bing Search.
